Julia Mashele
In 1993, Julia Masefako Mashele was arrested and kept in prison for seven years without bail. After the seven years, she was acquitted from jail and was expected to get back from the state all her property that was confiscated and stolen when she was arrested.

Seven years after her acquittal, Julia has forgiven all. She even dropped the civil case against the state; but most importantly, she has written a book: Justice Delayed is Justice Denied:Julia Mashele speaks.
Besides writing a book,Julia has packaged projects that will allow her to use her experience to motivate other people, especially those women who either grew up or are living in poverty; or were abused by their partners; or are in prison; or are ex-prisoners (whether as awaiting trialists or charged offenders). These projects are aimed at contributing to the rehabilitation programmes initiated by the Department of Correctional Services. The ultimate objective of the projects is to break the cycle of “once a prisoner always a prisoner”.
